2012 - #13 - Belle Vue - 29/4/12
Another day, another track I'd never been to. I've been quite well travelled this season, and Belle Vue was the 7th track I've been to this season. When this trip was booked earlier in the year we knew nothing of the plans for Rob Speak's big Aspire fundraiser, so it was an added bonus to see oval racing most succesful star in action again and brought back memories of the 99 season as Speak jumped from one car to the other.

You could have been mistaken for thinking it was the middle of winter in Manchester on Sunday morning, and the track was looked as though a month of rain had fallen on it, but as the meeting progressed the shale dried up and the racing got quicker and better.
The BriSCA minis took to the track for the opening heat with some firmilar names fulfilling the places as Bradley Harrison led home Courtney Finniken and Sam Jacklin, in what became a race of brown cars leading brown cars. Frankie Wainman Junior Junior also featured in the results throughout the day.

The tooz were next up and Daz Shaw continued where he left off the previous night taking the opening heat. Rob Speak grided in the second of the F2 heats and a 6th place was enough to see him through into the final, despite a few 'moments'. Once in the final Speak didn't look the quickest car on the track, but set about desptaching anyone on front of him as he came through the field to take second behind blue roof Josh Coleman. Speak was second again in the Grand National reeling in yellow grader Colin Eardley in the closing laps and putting in a big hit on the last bend, but was just unable to squeeze through in the dash to the line. It was a glimpse of what the sport is missing with Speaky not in regular action, and a certain focal point for the day.

The F1's raced a 2 from 3 format, with yellow grader Adam Slater leading home Craig Finnikin in heat 1. The second heat seen a win for Frankie Wainman Junior as he almost put a lap on Speak in the last bend. Heat 3 went the way of another yellow grader in the form of Geoff Nickolls, before Mal Brown led home Finnikin and Tom Harris in the final, Speak was 6th.
