I appears I've reached a strange point in my life where by mid May I have seen the F2's more times on the mainland than I have at home and in fact I've now seen the F1's on the mainland as many times as I've seen the F2's at home. While on a trip away I managed to find my way to another Stockcar meeting, this time at Northampton. I think it's a common scenario for Stockcar fans from here, if your in England anyway, sure and extra few hundred mile on your journey and another overnight stay and you can squeeze in another stockcar meeting, that you weren't anywhere near, but kid yourself into thinking you just happened to be "in the area", "the area" being the UK mainland, anywhere. With that in mind, I made the 3 hour trip from York where I had been during the week to Northampton for the F1's, F2's and BriSCA minis. To save going into all the details, I decided to take my compact camera with me, which ran out of batteries when I'd only been in the pits for 5 minutes, and that hit the photo taking thing on the head. All three classes provided great, action packed racing throughout the evening, with a few big shunts in the minis, an oil spill in one of the F2 heats and Mick Sworder in a BriSCA F1. Without writing up a whole meeting report, Daniel Johnston was flying in the F1's, but looked to have eaten his tyres up early on in the final and just couldn't get to the front. RCE's ruled the F2's with Polley and Kitson about as close as anyone was to being on terms with them. The minis provided some great action throughout the night.
