2013 - #14 – Lochgelly (HRP) – 28/4/13 |
Day 2 of the Lochgelly weekend, and the first stop was the café for a bite to eat. It’s been noted that I’ve sometimes been spending more time eating at meetings than taking photos, so since it’s part of the experience, I’ll mention that the Bacon and Sausage bap is a good shout at a Lochgelly.
The meeting started with the Ninja Karts, so I’ll do the same. Jake Woolsey won the opening heat, with Adam McFall winning the final, completing a successful trip for the first time the youngsters have been over the water, and let’s not forget, they’d only done two meetings at home before going to this one.
In the 2 Litre’s the NI cars dominated throughout the day, Adam Hylands won the opening heat, Wayne Woolsey won the second and they finished first and second in the final with Hylands taking the win and they were also accompanied by Shane Murray on the podium who took third.
Our cars didn’t have just as much success on the Sunday in the Nationals as they’d had on the Saturday, Adam Maxwell got a second in heat two with Keith Martin third, Gary Woolsey was the top finisher in the Scottish Open/ Malcolm Chershire memorial race with a third place. The race was won by Chris Haird.
Ryan Wright and Mark Hughes were in action in the National Saloons, which were pretty impressive on the tight oval. A fifth in heat one was Ryan’s best result, but he was flying in the final before getting spun on the top bend and looked like a contender for it, up to that stage.
The 1300 Saloons completed the line up, which also had a good squad of cars in them and plenty of action.
All in all, a great weekend of racing at Lochgelly, hopefully the link between Tullyroan and HRP can see a good exchange of cars both ways and build a strong partnership going forward.
