2013 - #24 - Tullyroan Oval - 15/6/13 |
The second meeting of the weekend for me and a clashing one with the F2's being on at Nutts Corner. Thankfully we didn't encounter an F2 going the other way on the trip to Tullyroan or instinct might have kicked in and I'd have ended up at Nutts Corner, having some sort of meltdown as to why I was there and why I still wasn't going in.
On the racecard for Tullyroan the ProStocks, Ninja Karts, Stock Rods, Lightning Rods and Junior Productions.
After heat wins for Matthew Nicholl and Adam Weir in the Ninja karts you could have been forgiven for thing the final was an F2 race, with a few stoppages, leaders being taken out and when the dust all settled it was Adam McFall who took the win. I must give a special mention to Sam Percy, as Andrew has always been a good supporter of the site and had it on quite a few of his cars, it's great to see the next generation out on track in the Ninja Karts.
The Juniors were down a few cars in numbers, due to the fixture clash. Bradley McKinstry and Edmund Davis shared the heats with Daniel Campbell the winner in the final.
The Stock Rods seen heat wins for Marc Morrell and Jonny McMillan before Thomas Morrison won the final with his brakes glowing throughout the closing laps.
The McKee's dominated the lightning rods with Gordy taking the opening heat and Ben taking heat two, the final and picking up the Les Beattie memorial trophy for the most successful driver throughout the night in the process.
Once again it was the ProStocks that stole the show, 36 cars came out on track for heat one, which was won by Tam Agnew, who only narrowly avoided being taken out by the stray car of James Litter who'd been turned onto the infield and was careering out onto the track mid bend.
Heat two went to hard hitting Chris Hamill, a win which looked as though it had been coming and was certainly deserved. The final started with with huge drama and a number of cars were out in incidents in the opening lap. Wayne McKay somehow stayed out of trouble and took the win despite a last bend lunge from one of the Flemmings. As ever, there is never a dull moment in the ProStocks.
Approx Turnout: 92 cars (36 ProStocks, 20 Lightning Rods, 11 Stock Rods, 9 Juniors Productions, 16 Ninja Karts)
