2013 - #26 – Tullyroan Oval – 23/6/13
The second part of the big banger weekend and a change of scenery in the supporting classes with the turn of the Superstox, 2 Litres, Ninja Karts and ProStocks taking the stage.
Possibly due to a lack of sleep I had got in my head it was a one o’clock start (I’m in speedweekend mode already) and not 2 o’clock, which led to me arriving at Tullyroan much earlier than I’d anticipated.
A lively practice session seen a few bumps, scraps, spins and slaps off the wall and perhaps reduced the turnout by one or two cars in the process.

Up first it was the turn of the Ninja karts, with a 18 karts in action and Adam Weir taking the opener. Heat two went the way of Niall Cregan, his first win in the class I think before the final went to Adam McFall. I think it’s worth mentioning that young Callum Magill was probably one of the unluckiest drivers out there yesterday when he led the final by around the length of the straight, looked to have it in the bag and then there was a caution cutting his lead before he spun after the restart. It’s nice to see 3 race winners and I’m sure a win for Magill isn’t far away.

The ProStocks were as action packed as ever and produced another 30+ grid of cars. James Litter took the opening heat. Adam McCready took heat two before Stefan McClelland took the closed grid final and the second round of the GH Tyres series.

The Superstox seen an opening heat win for Denver Grattan, I think his first since the class started before Gary Grattan took heat two and the final.

The 2 Litre’s had a lively afternoon, with Philip Beatty finishing first in heat one, only to be docked with Shane Murray the eventual winner. Stephen Emerson took the in in heat two, which I think is the first win he has had in the class when he has been the first car over the line. Bobbie Johnston was first over the line in the final but later excluded for a tyre sheet irregularity, giving the win to Derek Martin.

In the National Bangers Chris Hide took the win in the Irish Championship and the allcomers before Liam Hide took the win in the DD

Overall Car Turnout: 87 cars (31 ProStocks, 18 Ninja Karts, 8 Superstox, 16 2.0 Hot Rods, 14 National Bangers)
