2013 - #28 – Tullyroan Oval – 29/6/13 |
The final meeting in what has been a very busy June and the last one before the summer break.
ProStocks were a late addition to the programme, thankfully replacing Open Hot Rods, which are a bit hit and miss, but are never 30+ cars and therefore never as exciting as ProStocks.
The meeting included the second round of the NI Oval TV Series for the Superstox, with Banger and Robin driver Steven Bolton in one of the Grattan’s hire cars, Belgian visitor Jan Bekkers in the other and Dougie Frame from Scotland making his second trip across the water to Tullyroan. Denver Grattan took the opening heat win, Nathan Beattie won heat two and Gary Grattan took the final win on the run into the line after Denver Grattan who had been leading got a puncture on the last lap.
The Stock rods featured two heat wins for Geoff Milligan on his return to racing before Thomas Morrison took his second final win of the month as Stephen McNiece and Victor McAfee looked either side of him on the run out of the last bend.
The Lightning Rods seen an opening heat win for Nigel Jackson with David Hearst winning the second. The two heats winners battled for the meeting final with Hearst going around the outside of Jackson on the run to the line to provide another dramatic finish to the evening.
Thirty one ProStocks were in action for the opening heat, which went the way of Adam McCready. Jack Gilpin took heat two. The final was taken back a lap after Gilpin was judged to have turned race leader Robbie Diffin the wrong way, giving the win to Diffin.
The Juniors raced for the Tullyroan Oval challenge cup which seen heat wins for Edmund Davis and Bradley McKinstry, before Davis took the win in the final.
Approx Car Turnout: 81 cars (31 ProStocks, 10 Superstox, 12 Juniors, 14 Stock Rods, 14 Lightning Rods)
