2013 - #35 – Tullyroan Oval – 10/8/13 |
With the National Hot Rod World and National Championships over for another year, qualifying began all over again as they topped the bill at Tullyroan on Saturday night.
With NI Oval TV’s regular cameraman off watching saloons in Scotland, I took up the mantle of filming the meeting, so the shots you see below are still taken by the video camera, not up to the normal standard I’m used to working with…. Nor is the video footage.
With quite a hectic evening, I didn’t take too many notes, so as far as car numbers go, the Robins had around half a dozen, the 2 Litre’s looked down slightly in numbers, there was 16 Nationals, Juniors were about the normal 10-12 and there was a decent enough turn out of Ninja Karts.
Niall Cregan took the opening Ninja Kart win with Matthew Nicholl passing Adam Weir on the last bend of heat two to take the win, before Nicholl took the final, leading home Cregan and McFall.
In the Junior Productions Graham Fegan took the wins in both heats before Bradley McKinstry won the meeting final, which was also the final of the Murrays of Randalstown Young Guns Series.
Derek Martin won the 2 Litre final which featured a heavy crash on the back straight involving Kris Fitzpatrick, Adam Heatrick, Adam Hylands, Adam Best and Gareth Thompson…. which I missed when I was filming. Adam Hylands and Adam Best had earlier secured the heat wins.
In the Nationals Andy Cochrane took the opening heat of the new qualifying campaign with Andrew Murray taking the second heat and the final. If the number stay up in the Nationals we’re in for a cracking qualifying series.
