Flying Fleming King of Aghadowey |
Ryan Fleming and JayJay McConaghie took the King of Aghadowey titles in the ProStocks and the Robins respectively at Aghadowey Oval at the July Bank Holiday meeting.
Just for a change the forecast for Aghadowey looked grim when I left the house and it wasn’t until I was half way there that I even seen a glimmer of hope it would be anything but miserable, so it was pleasantly surprising that for most of the afternoon it was dry, but when it was wet, it was really wet…. and I cleared off back into the stand like everyone else.
The Caravan DD was the big event that most people I imagine had come for. Caravan DD’s to me can be a bit hit and miss, you can have loads of them out and they all turn to matchsticks in the first bend, or you can have a few out and they’ll produce some good action but that can also just as easily turn to match sticks in the first bend. This however was one of the better ones and it was the first time I’d actually seen a tow car roll and that signed off what had been a decent showing put on by them.
In the racing itself there was final wins for JayJay McConaghie who took a heat and final double in the Robins, Ryan Fleming won all three in the ProStocks after Greg McMullan was excluded from the final for a technical infringement, Adam Hylands won the 2 Litres final as they took to the track for the last time ahead of their World final, Bobbie Johnston won the Stock Rods and Samuel Montgomery won a superb Thunder Rod final, from which most of the field were battling for one spot at one stage.
