World Champions in NI During 2014 |
As I did with 2013, here is a look back at the World Champions who raced in NI during the 2014 season.
Once again NI drivers didn't have a bad year when it came to picking up majors although Victor McAfee was perhaps more than a little unlucky when it came to the Stock Rod World.
|
As 2013 World Champion, John Christie started the year with the Gold roof and the black and red colour scheme we've come to associate with him..... |
... before going pink for Action Cancer for the World final and lifting a sizable amount for a great cause. |
Chris Haird then won the NHR World at Ipswich in July and was in NI for the British Championship in September |
Shane Murray started the year as 2013 World Champion in the 2.0 Hot Rods and finished the year as a double World Champion after dominating the World Final at Tullyroan in July |
Nigel Jackson had possibly the shortest reign ever as World Champion in the Lightning Rods, having won the world in Spetember 13 at Tullyroan, the title was up for grabs again at Cowdie in May (I still don't agree with that).... |
.... at Cowdie it was Winston Weir who took the spoils, picking up his first major in the class, and what a major to win. |
The ProStocks, like the Lightning Rods started and finished the year with different local World Champions, Gremlin started the season as World Champion.... |
....Stuart Agnew won the title when it was up for grabs again at Lochgelly, late in the year. |
World Champion or not, you can normally rely on Chris Lattka to make an appearance in NI, there is local drivers who have less experience around our tracks than Chris. As world champion he made a few appearances this season.
I think Stuart Shevill may also have been over in the Saloons, but I wasn't there and have no pics. |
