10 Things I'm Looking forward to in 2015
As with previous years I'm setting out my stall early of the things I'm most looking forward to. I'm sure there'll be surprises, disappointments, twists and turns and things I'll not make it to, but it's all the joys of being a race fan.

1 - 2015 Superstox World Final
Aghadowey Oval - 26th September
There is no question in my mind as to what the number one attraction in local Oval Racing is this season, it’s the Superstox World final. One of the sports longest running Championships comes to the province for only the second time in it’s History, I’m sure it’ll be a night to remember.

2 - BriSCA F1 World Final
Kings Lynn - 19th September
Having sampled my first F1 World Final in 2014, it’s put the event right up there in my mind as THE must see event of oval racing and I’d be hoping to be making the trip for years to come.
I think F1’s are great, I much prefer Shale to tar and Kings Lynn is my favourite track, so it’s a no brainer.

3 - NHR British Weekend
Aghadowey Oval/ Tullyroan Oval 6th/7th September
I’m no big fan of Speedweekend’s run over split venues, to me it makes it two independent meetings that by chance feature the same classes and drivers, I have various rants on it, but I’ll save them for now.
The National weekend is a bit watered down on last years as the Supers have their own weekend at the end of September, but last year’s event was a cracker and I’m sure this year’s will be too.

4 - Drivers changing classes
Like any new season there is a few drivers changing classes over the winter. Changing senior classes it’ll be interesting to see how Adam Hylands gets on in the Nationals and how Gordy McKee gets on going the other way round when he moves into F2. There is quite a bit of youth coming through as well as Bradley McKinstry and Graham Fegan Jnr move into the F2s from the Junior Productions, while Jordan Robinson moves into Superstox also from the Junior Productions and seemed to cope OK in some horrible conditions at the start of the month on his debut. The first of the Ninja Kart graduates move into Juniors this season with Cole McFall going into Junior Rods and I think a Adam Weir, Matthew Nicholl and Meegan Murray are moving into the Junior Productions, it’ll be interesting to see what grounding the Ninjas have given them against youngsters going straight into Juniors.

5 - F2 Irish Weekend
Ballymena Raceway 12th June, Nutts Corner Raceway 13th June & 14th June
Like past years the F2 Irish weekend is a three meeting affair, and I’d hope to make the Friday and the Sunday. We look like having a good squad of F2’s this season, so hopefully we’ll get some good racing. They are supported this year by Heritage F2’s which will be something different to see on our tracks, personally I’m not a huge fan, I figure that Heritage racing appeals to those who recall that era and it’ll be a few years yet before it reaches and era I recall, and so I lose interest after a few laps, but it’ll be something different for local fans to see.

6 - NIOvalTV Series
Tullyroan Oval 9th May, Aghadowey Oval 6th June, Tullyroan Oval 4th July, Aghadowey Oval 29th June
When the Superstox returned in 2013 we were a little unsure about how they’d go, but the opportunity was there to get behind a class from the beginning, and I felt BriSCA have been short changing NI for years so if we want to see major open wheel championships in the province then it’ll have to be Superstox. I don’t think the first round of our the series broke into double figures the first season, but it has grown and grown with the class ever since, which we hope continues. Hopefully 2015 will be as good a series again.

7 - NHR Euro/ Superstox British Weekend
18th/19th April HRP Lochgelly
The first year the Euro moved to Lochgelly it was a cracking weekend, well balanced between rods and stocks formula and although I’d been to Lochgelly a few times it really put it on the map in terms of how far it had come on. Last year I felt it missed the Superstox and while the Hot Rod fans thought it was great, I felt it missed something. This year it’s supported by the Superstox British and I reckon that could well make it the best NHR Euro weekend yet.

8 - Shamwreck
Tullyroan Oval - 12th of April
The bangers have been suffering a bit in recent years, but Shamwreck never disappoints. The big day out for the big bangers normally features the biggest hits and best tin of the year, it’s a treat for banger fans.

9 – The 1300s being re-united
This was a late addition to the list after I’d struggled to decide on a number 9, some talks took place a deal was done and the 1300 Stock Cars can now all race together in 2015. Throughout 2014 any race I seen had potential, it was good for a lap or two but then the field got spread up and about 10 laps of not very exciting things happened. Here is hoping the merge brings better car turn outs and better racing, furthermore here is hoping next year I’m writing the same thing about the Stock Rods.

10 - Going to Wimbledon
Much in the same way “This is the season that Liverpool will win the league”, for the past few years “This is the season I’m going to Wimbledon” and somehow or other it doesn’t come off, or I leave it too late to get a price I’m happy to pay to go over. I was nailed on for going to the NHR Best in Britain and then I seen the support classes and decided it wasn’t for me, so I’m hoping to make the Superstox Best in Britain, fingers crossed.
