NI Promoters Websites - 10 Years Online |
This weekend marks 10 years since the domain Nuttscorneroval.com was first registered online. It's hard these days to look back and imagine a time that there wasn't promoters websites, but up until 2006 that was indeed the case.
Prior to 2006 NIF2 and the NI Oval Racing forums were the places to find information online, Rollingstart.net and Rogers UK Oval Racing Pages (in my view the trailblazer of all UK Oval Racing Websites) were the big sites to keep an eye on in the mainland, nationalhotrod.com and ftooz were the main sites to check out for formula specific stuff while Kevin McQueen's racewall.net kept you in touch with all things Scottish, which at the time was Racewall, Knockhill and Crimond.
Over the winter of 2005/2006 it was announced that Ballymena Raceway would have a new website for 2006, and from memory a date was set for release of it. Meanwhile away from public scrutiny and anticipation I had been asked to build a site for Nuttscorner Oval, which would go on to be released "when it was ready", which turned out to be a few days ahead of the Ballymena Raceway site.
It's probably fair to say that no one really knew what to expect from the websites, how they'd be received or how they'd grow and continue over the years, but I do believe in the early days both sites set the bar as high and if not higher than any of the UK promotions and have possibly been the blueprint for what is expected of a promotions website in the years that followed.
As much as I'd liked to have shared loads of screenshots of both the BMR and NCO sites from the past I only had a few screenshots of NCO site and one of the BMR site, mostly mock ups for new designs.
I think everyone can agree though that the sites are a credit to those involved and those who contribute to them.

I think this was the 2008 facelift |
I've a feeling this was the 2010 or 2011 site, there was also a gold version to promote the 2.0 Hot Rod World Final |
