Added: 04 Oct 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing Fleck and Kincaid take titles at Ballymena With no racing at BMR or DMC last weekend and me swanning off to see the F1 world the week before, it’s been a while since me and my preferred camera went to a meeting, in this time I’d forgotten that something isn’t quite right with it and a good clean maybe wouldn’t do it any harm, the resulting soft, unfocused blurry images that it seems to have opted to take meant a fair bit of deleting when I got home. [see the full article] Added: 14 Sep 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing Top 2 Litre action at Tullyroan Oval The 2 Litre Hot Rod’s stole the show at Tullyroan Oval today (yes, I’m actually writing a report on the day the event happened, something quite rare) as an Emerson V Emerson battle for the final rounded out an afternoon of racing which could be considered a slow burner, but it certainly didn’t disappoint in the end. [see the full article] Added: 09 Sep 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing McNeice Emerson and Gilky Take Titles at Aghadowey The opening day of the DMC September Speedweekend took place at Aghadowey Oval on Saturday. The evenings racing was headlined by the Stock Rods European Championship, Superstox Irish Open, 2 Litre Hot Rod Irish Open as well as the qualifying heats for the National Hot Rod British Championship. [see the full article] Added: 01 Sep 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing Grattan and Agnew victorious at Tullyroan I’m not sure if it’s an association I make with going back to school or if it’s how the seasons are defined, but I always consider the last day of August as the last day of summer. In reality this year the last day of summer mid have been somewhere around mid June, it was a mid week day and I was in work, unless you live locally to Aghadowey in which case summer was on Easter Monday this year! [see the full article] Added: 01 Sep 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing European Glory for Fleming Dean Fleming became the ProStock European champion at Aghadowey Oval on Saturday 30th of August with a heat and final double after his brother Ryan had won the opening heat. [see the full article] Added: 24 Aug 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing Ward Hat-Trick at Slick Tullyroan Meeting Since I’m normally amongst the first to complain when a meeting drags on a bit, on this occasion I’ll be the first to commend a slick run meeting at Tullyroan which seen 15 races done and dusted inside 3 hours, followed by a caravan destruction derby which was done, dusted and photos etc finished in a further half hour. Even the Ninja Karts managed three races without a stoppage! [see the full article] Added: 23 Aug 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing Hughes Wins Tooz at Ballymena Going into this weekend I think I’d been to Lochgelly as many times as I’d been to Ballymena. As much as I’d like to go to every stockcar meeting it’s too much to try doing 3 meetings a weekend, week after week, it was once something I’d have done a few times a season around Speedweekends, but now it seems most weekend’s the option is there to do three meetings and it’s just too much. [see the full article] Added: 18 Aug 2014 Category: 2014 Oval Racing Cup Success for Jackson and Murray If you read the 2Litre Hot Rod site then you’ll probably realise I’ve run out of headline ideas for “Murray wins…….”, on this occasion it may be a different Murray, a different family and a different class, but the writer’s block remains. John Murray won the Micro Bangers European Cup at Tullyroan on Sunday and went on to take the all comers race too. Steven Reynolds won the DD, which was starting to feel a bit like an endurance race and I reckon it was lap fourteen before it was settled, but in a weird way it was still entertaining and ended with a head on between Reynolds and Steven Bolton who was entertainer of the day. On a side note it was good to see a Last Rites car back at Tullyroan with Kevin Moran at the wheel. [see the full article]
