[see the full article] Added: 26 May 2013 Category: 2013 Oval Racing 2013 - #19 – Tullyroan Oval – 25/5/13 Sometimes when I go to write my blog pieces after the racing I find I have to pause and think about how it will be interpreted by the reader. As I’ve often said your opinion, or anyone’s opinion on a Stockcar meeting or any other form of entertainment for that matter is very much a personal experience, on the wettest most miserable of nights someone is going to have the result of their lives and on a sunny night with packed grids and fantastic racing someone else is going to be miserable that the car broke down in practice. Therefore when I’ve “one of those meetings” I need to remember when I write a piece on the racing, to try and report on the racing and the positives, and on the nights the racing is poor we’ll still try and find some positives from that too, less time editing photos or something. [see the full article] Added: 21 May 2013 Category: 2013 Oval Racing 2013 - #18 - Birmingham Wheels - 18/5/13 Being a photographer at our local tracks creates an element of commitment to being “there” when there is racing on. Being “there” prevents me from being anywhere else and somewhat restricts travelling to the weekends that there is no racing at home, and so a few days away in York and a trip to Stoke was planned..... but it didn’t work out like that. [see the full article] Added: 21 May 2013 Category: Anything Else Friends of Ferguson Heritage @ York Farming Museum Second stop of the whirlwind tour of Yorkshire on Saturday morning was a trip to the York Farm Museum for a Friends of Ferguson Heritage day. Again, there wasn’t a lot of tractors by the amount I’m used to seeing at runs locally, but there was a few I’d never seen before including a vineyard Massey Ferguson 35 or 835 the owner informed me is it’s correct model number, a 140 and a super 90, all things I’d never seen before. I think I’m becoming quite the tractor spotter..... it’s starting to scare me! [see the full article] Added: 21 May 2013 Category: Anything Else Pickering Country Fair & UK Tractor Show 100’s of tractors was on the website I read, 10’s maybe slightly closer, at least at 11 o’clock on the Saturday morning. Maybe it picked up over the weekend, maybe there was a run later in the day and people didn’t arrive until it, I don’t know, but having driven over an hour round trip to see 100’s of tractors I was quite disappointed by all there was there, at the time I was there. [see the full article] Added: 06 May 2013 Category: 2013 Oval Racing 2013 - #16 - Tullyroan Oval - 5/5/13 It’s hard to believe that this time last year Nuttscorner Oval had closed and Tullyroan Oval was much anticipated, but no one really knew how it would all pan out. A year ago I was sceptical about the extra travel, not sure how the fields of cars would go on a bigger track, not sure if there would be a gain or loss of drivers in the move. I was looking forward to seeing F2’s, Stock Rods and Saloons at my regular haunt and was looking forward to seeing the 2 Litres around Aghadowey. [see the full article] Added: 04 May 2013 Category: 2013 Oval Racing 2013 - #15 – Ballymena Raceway – 3/5/13 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, when I look down the Ballymena fixture list to try and decide which meetings I’m going to do, the stand out meetings for me are the ones with National Hot Rods and F2’s and the real stand out meetings are the nights both classes are on, really at that point I’m fine with just seeing 6 races anything above that is a bonus. It’s worth also mentioning that this is now something of a unique event to Ballymena, no one else over here can run Nationals and F2’s on the same night. [see the full article] Added: 03 May 2013 Category: Anything Else Photo Edits from Lochgelly When I get a few minutes I always enjoy sitting down and editing shots to see what else I can do with them, something not quite the norm. The bright sunshine and dramatic clouds at Lochgelly lent themselves to HDR shots, the rest are just photoshop edits and while these aren't the greatest, they are something a bit different. It’s been noted that I’ve sometimes been spending more time eating at meetings than taking photos, so since it’s part of the experience, I’ll mention that the Bacon and Sausage bap is a good shout at a Lochgelly.
